In China, the Miao people inhabit a wide range of land in south-central China, with most settlements in Guizhou, “the base of the Miao nationality”; in the Southeastern Guizhou Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. The Miao are for the most part are a typical agrarian (and, to lesser extend, a hunting) society.
With a language belongs to the Miao-Yao branch of the Chinese-Tibetan language family, the Miao are generally adept singers and dancers and specialize in love songs and songs for toasting.
