Although in recent history, opposite versions of modernization have erased many of China's religious sites and practices, in and around today's Chengdu (including Qingcheng Shan, a nearby 'holy mountain' in the foothills of the Tibetan mountains), a revival of Buddhistic holy sites and rites can bee seen, while permitting Muslims and Christians to practice in the shadows.
